Former Clemson Softball standout Alex Brown is officially headed to the professional ranks. The dynamic third baseman has signed with the New York Rise, a professional fastpitch softball team based on Long Island, New York.
The Rise, who play their home games at Bill Edwards Stadium at Hofstra University, are entering their second season in 2025 as members of the Fastpitch United Pro Series. Their mission is clear: “enable elite female softball athletes to continue playing beyond college at a pro-level, showcase their talents, and create female role models along the way. Our players will connect with fans in New York and the Northeast through fan engagements at our games, through clinics, and other community events.”
For Alex Brown, the signing marks the next step in what’s already been a decorated softball career. She capped off her senior season at Clemson with career-best numbers, helping lead the Tigers to an ACC Championship in the process. Brown posted a .413 batting average, a .519 on-base percentage, and a .571 slugging percentage, finishing the year with 81 hits, 70 runs scored, 35 RBIs, 13 doubles, 3 triples, and 4 home runs.

Her 70 runs were a Clemson single-season record, and she also drew 41 walks, the most ever by a Tiger in one season. Her performance earned her a spot on the All-ACC First Team, NFCA All-Region Third Team, and she was named ACC Player of the Week on March 25.
Brown’s impact extended beyond the numbers. Her presence at third base brought consistency and confidence to Clemson’s infield, and her ability to reach base and produce in key moments made her one of the most reliable players in the lineup.
Now, she joins a New York Rise team that is building momentum in the world of professional softball. The Rise played 22 games in their inaugural 2024 season, including nine home games. They made an immediate splash by winning the Scenic City Cup against the OKC Spark and went on to finish third in the Champion Cup Series with the Association of Fastpitch Professionals.
For Brown, the team’s mission aligns perfectly with the role she embraced during her Clemson career—both on and off the field. Her move to the professional level isn’t just a continuation of her playing days; it’s a chance to inspire.
As she transitions from a Tiger to Rise, Alex Brown will look to bring her elite skillset, leadership, and competitive spirit to one of softball’s fastest-growing platforms. With a proven record of success and a bright future ahead, she’s ready to make her mark on the pro stage.
