Veasey is Coach Erik Bakich’s first transfer commit of the offseason.
The Clemson Tigers have landed their first transfer portal commit of the offseason, as 6’1 right-handed pitcher Ariston Veasey has signed with the Tigers. Veasey made six appearances during his two years at Alabama, tallying a 9.82 ERA in just 3.2 innings pitched. The rising junior has a three-pitch mix of a fastball, changeup, and sweeper. Veasey’s fastball can top out at around 98 MPH, exactly what the Clemson pitching staff needs, while his sweeper and changeup sit in the mid to low 80s. Veasey has two years of eligibility left.
Although Veasey rarely appeared for the Crimson Tide during his two seasons with the team, this is a quality first commitment for Erik Bakich and the Tigers. The Clemson pitching staff has lacked flamethrowers in the past, which has hurt their ability to reach Omaha, but with the addition of Veasey, Clemson has finally checked off that box. This is just the start for Clemson in the transfer portal, but a strong one.
