Cam Wasted No Time with Marlins High-A Affiliate
Former Clemson baseball star Cam Cannarella didn’t need long to make his presence felt in the professional ranks.
On Wednesday night, Cannarella made his debut with the Beloit Sky Carp, the High-A affiliate of the Miami Marlins, and he looked right at home in the leadoff spot. The former Tiger wasted no time showing off his bat, producing two doubles on the night, including one to left field in the bottom of the sixth inning that set the tone for his new club. He would later come into score then added another double in the bottom of the eighth, capping off a strong multi-hit performance in his first professional outing.
Cannarella, known at Clemson for his consistent contact and ability to spark the offense, carried that same energy into his debut. The Marlins drafted the outfielder with the 43rd overall pick in July, signing him later that month.
For Clemson fans, it’s no surprise to see Cannarella delivering big moments right away. Now, with his first game in the books, the Sky Carp — and the Marlins organization — have to be thrilled with how their newest prospect is starting his journey.
