Christian Chancellor Jr. Chooses Clemson
Sometimes, the best recruiting stories are the ones that happen in your own backyard.
On Thursday, Clemson football added its third commitment in the 2027 class as Christian Chancellor Jr. aka “PJ”, a cornerback from D.W. Daniel High School in Central, announced he’s staying home to play for the Tigers. It’s hard to get much closer to Clemson than Daniel High School, sitting just a few miles down the road.
Christian Chancellor Jr., listed at 5-foot-10, 162 pounds, received an offer from Clemson on June 3 and didn’t wait long to make his decision, committing on July 25. The commitment carries extra meaning for Clemson fans: Christian is the son of former Tiger defensive back Chris Chancellor, who played from 2006-09 and was known for his toughness and leadership in the secondary.
Christian Chancellor Jr. becomes the first South Carolina player to join Clemson’s 2027 class, reinforcing Dabo Swinney’s focus on keeping local talent close to home. While he’s currently unrated by 247Sports and On3, the Tigers see potential in the legacy corner, who now gets a chance to build on his family’s story in orange and purple.
For the Chancellor family, it’s a full-circle moment—and for Clemson, it’s another step in building the next generation, one local commitment at a time.
