Emree Hofseth Ready For Tiger Town
When Emree Hofseth stepped onto Clemson’s campus for the first time, she didn’t need much convincing. For the standout Level 10 gymnast out of Cypress Academy of Gymnastics in Houston, Texas, everything just clicked.
“It’s hard to put it into words, but Clemson just felt right the moment I stepped on campus,” Hofseth said. “Everyone was so welcoming, especially the girls on the team and the coaches. I also loved the opportunities Clemson offers academically, and it was clear how much support comes from the entire school, from the president of the university to the athletic department.”
Her official visit a couple weekends ago only confirmed that feeling. From checking out Clemson’s world-class facilities to enjoying some unique downtime, Hofseth said the experience was unforgettable. “My visit was so much fun, and it was awesome to see everything Clemson has to offer. Two of my favorite memories were visiting the ARC and getting to go on a boat ride. Both were such cool experiences!”
For Hofseth, one of the biggest factors in her decision was the opportunity to compete for Clemson’s new co-head coaches, Justin Howell and Liz Crandall-Howell.
“It’s hard not to be excited about this coaching staff leading such a young program!” she said. “They made me feel valued as a person, not just as a gymnast, and that really meant a lot to me. I can’t wait to be coached and mentored by some of the very best.”
Family has also played a key role in Hofseth’s journey. She credits her older sister, Addisyn, now a freshman competing with Kentucky Gymnastics, as her greatest influence. “My biggest role model has always been my older sister, Addisyn Hofseth. I’ve looked up to her since I was little, and I still do now. She’s such a hard worker and has accomplished so much, and I strive to be like her every day.”
As Clemson’s first 2027 commit, Hofseth knows she’s stepping into a program still carving out its place in the college gymnastics world, and that excites her.
“I’m so excited to be a part of something so special at Clemson,” she said. “Even though it’s still a newer program, you can already feel the energy and passion that’s growing. I can’t wait to wear orange and purple, be all in with my teammates, and be a part of Tiger Nation. There really is ‘something in these hills,’ and I feel so thankful to join it.”
Hofseth may still be a couple of years away from officially donning orange and purple, but she’s already bringing that Clemson spirit with her. And for Tiger fans, her commitment offers an early glimpse into the bright future of the program.
