Second Flip from Cal This Week as Coaching Change Sparks Recruiting Shakeup
Clemson gymnastics has added another high-level talent to its 2026 recruiting class — and for the second time in a week, it comes at the expense of Cal.
Morgan Reihl, a standout Level 10 gymnast from Linden, California, announced her commitment to Clemson after originally being pledged to the University of California. A three-time national qualifier and balance beam national champion, Reihl adds proven pedigree and elite skill to the Tigers’ growing future core.
Cal to Clemson Pipeline Grows
Reihl is the second gymnast this week to flip her commitment from Cal to Clemson, joining Sydney Snyder, who announced her decision on Tuesday. Both decommitments follow the coaching change at Cal, where longtime co-head coaches Justin Howell and Elisabeth Crandall-Howell recently departed the program.
With uncertainty surrounding the Golden Bears’ future direction, Clemson has quickly become a top destination for top talent reconsidering their options.
Morgan Reihl Brings Beam Brilliance
Known especially for her poise and precision on balance beam, Reihl earned national championship honors on the event and has competed at the highest levels of club gymnastics. Her success on beam will be a welcome addition to a Clemson lineup that has leaned on consistency in that event across its first two seasons.
Clemson’s 2026 Class Continues to Climb
With the additions of Reihl and Snyder, Clemson’s 2026 recruiting class is shaping up as one of its strongest yet. The Tigers have quickly gained national respect for their recruiting, especially on the West Coast after the coaching change, and continue to benefit from the momentum of a promising young program in a competitive ACC.
Reihl’s commitment not only strengthens Clemson’s future, but also signals the Tigers’ ability to capitalize on shifting tides across the NCAA gymnastics landscape.
