“Let’s chase history and bring a national Title back to Clemson”
Nate Savoie is Ready to Chase a Championship
It’s been no secret that the Clemson Tigers have been aggressive in the transfer portal this year as they continue to bolster their roster ahead of the upcoming baseball season. One of the most notable additions is Nate Savoie, who brings both talent and tenacity to the program. I recently had the opportunity to speak with Savoie about his commitment, his journey, and what joining Clemson means to him.
First Impressions Matter
Savoie’s first interaction with Head Coach Erik Bakich was a pivotal moment in his decision-making process.
“My first interaction with Coach EB was over Zoom, just a few days after the transfer portal opened. I had already been talking with Coach Schnabel and Coach Mazur, and once I got on the call with EB, it all came together. I had heard a lot about him from former teammates and training partners like Josh Paino and TP Wentworth, and he was exactly what they described — energetic, sharp, and genuinely invested. He asked thoughtful questions, and we had a great first conversation.”
A Dream Offer Fulfilled
When asked what it felt like to receive an offer from Clemson, Savoie didn’t hold back on what the moment meant to him.
“Clemson is one of those programs you grow up watching, dreaming of playing for one day. The tradition, the stage, the fanbase, and the level of competition — it’s something I’d been aiming for since I entered the portal. I always had the belief that the work I put in would get me to where I want to go, so getting that offer was a big moment.”
Chasing Excellence
With his commitment secured, Savoie is setting his sights high — both personally and as part of a team with championship aspirations.
“Team-wise, the goal is simple: win Clemson Baseball’s first national championship. I want to do everything I can to help us get there. Personally, I want to keep improving every day — as a catcher, as a hitter, and as a complete player. My focus is on showing up consistently, putting in the work, and continuing to elevate every part of my game.”
The Road to Clemson
Savoie’s path to this point wasn’t easy. A high school career hampered by injuries tested his resolve, but he remained committed to his development both on and off the field.
“It’s taken nearly everything. My high school career was filled with injuries, so I didn’t get to play nearly as much as I wanted. But I used that time to grow in other areas — mentally, physically, and as a teammate. I was constantly rehabbing, working on my mindset, and learning how to contribute however I could.
At LMU, I was finally healthy and able to play a full season. I put everything into that year — early mornings before class at the cage to hit, catch off the machine, or work on mobility. After practice or class, I’d be back in the cage or in the weight room, continuing my catching, daily mobility and arm care routines. Sundays — our off day during the fall — were for meal prepping so I could stay fueled all week. I also poured into the mental side, reading Inner Excellence by Jim Murphy, which I still revisit before every game.”
A Message to the Fans
As our conversation came to a close, Savoie had a message for the Clemson faithful.
“I’m incredibly grateful to be part of the Clemson Family. The culture here is second to none, and the energy you all bring makes this place special. I can’t wait to go to battle in a Tigers uniform. Let’s chase history and bring a national title back to Clemson!”
With dedication like his and a laser focus on both personal and team goals, Nate Savoie looks poised to make an immediate impact. Clemson fans should keep a close eye on Nate this season — he’s ready to go all in.
