Ransford Gyan Named ACC Offensive Player of the Week
After a strong week of soccer from Clemson, winning by a combined score of 10-1 over South Carolina and UAB, Sophomore midfielder Ransford Gyan has been named ACC Offensive Player of the Week. This award is Gyan’s first of his Clemson career.
In two games last week, Gyan recorded three goals and one assist as the Tigers dominated the Gamecocks and the Blazers. Gyan got the scoring started in Clemson’s game against South Carolina, as his 32’ goal gave the Tigers a 1-0 lead en route to their 4-1 win. The Sunyani, Ghana native continued his strong week as he notched two goals and an assist, as the Tigers took down the Blazers in dominating fashion 6-0.
Ransford Gyan continues to show improvements, as in just three games, his four goals on the year are only one away from tying his career high (5) last season. Gyan seems to be more confident in his ability to shoot than he was last year, leading to greater success for him and the team. If Gyan can stay healthy and continues to put up this type of production, he will end the season as the ACC’s best player.
Clemson United faces off against the Pittsburgh Panthers at 6:00 PM on Friday, September 5, at Historic Riggs Field.
