Bakich Picks Up Tyler Lichtenberger
With Andrew Cifuo’s eligibility officially expired, Clemson baseball head coach Erik Bakich wasted no time finding a replacement — and he found a gem. Tyler Lichtenberger, the Sun Belt Freshman of the Year, has committed to the Tigers.
Hailing from Boca Raton, Florida, Lichtenberger enjoyed an outstanding freshman campaign with the Appalachian State Mountaineers. The dynamic shortstop slashed an impressive .341/.410/.468, leading his team in hitting. He also showcased a balanced offensive approach with three home runs, 37 RBIs, 18 walks, and seven stolen bases in nine attempts.
For Clemson, Tyler Lichtenberger becomes the first position player transfer announced for the 2025 class and the third overall addition via the Transfer Portal. His arrival fills a crucial need at shortstop and continues Bakich’s aggressive roster-building strategy this offseason.
