Taylor is making strides in the pro ranks
Will Taylor Rakes!
Former Clemson Baseball star Will Taylor continues his professional baseball rise in the Pittsburgh Pirates organization, earning a well-deserved promotion to High-A Greensboro after a historic day with the Bradenton Marauders.
Taylor, who was selected by the Pirates in the fifth round (145th overall) of the 2024 MLB Draft, delivered a performance for the ages last night, going 3-for-3 with two home runs, a double, and seven RBIs. His first homer—a three-run blast—set the tone early, and he later capped his day with a grand slam that basically sealed his call-up to High-A.
Through 102 at-bats this season with Bradenton, Taylor has slashed an impressive .333/.424/.933, collecting 34 hits, 24 runs scored, 4 home runs, 19 RBIs, and 8 stolen bases. His advanced approach at the plate and plus speed have translated seamlessly to the pro game, proving why the Pirates invested in his potential on draft day.
Taylor’s journey from Clemson standout to one of the Pirates’ most exciting young prospects has been marked by consistency and resilience. During his time with the Tigers, he showcased elite athleticism and versatility, traits that continue to stand out in the minor leagues.
With this promotion to High-A Greensboro, Taylor will face tougher competition and a chance to further hone his skills in the outfield and at the plate. Pirates fans and Clemson faithful alike will be watching closely as Taylor continues to climb the ranks on his path to Pittsburgh.
His journey is just beginning—but after a night like that, it’s clear that Will Taylor’s star is on the rise.
